Sugars & Salts – the two most important seasoning bases combined
Salt and sugar are the two cornerstones of seasoning. At Altes Gewürzamt, founded in 2001 by top chef Ingo Holland in Klingenberg am Main and now run by his son Kilian Holland, you will find 40 specialties from both worlds in one category – from fine salt varieties from around the world to spice sugar for fine pastries.
Classics in the salt range: Pakistani crystal salt from the foothills of the Himalayas, Sylt wild berry salt and the smoky Salish alderwood. From the sugar range: Bourbon spice sugar with vanilla and Lebanon spice sugar with oriental notes.
Application in your kitchen
Salt for searing, sauces, crusts and finishing; sugar for pancakes, creams and pastries. Unusual applications are also worth trying: a touch of sugar in a dark sauce brings depth; a pinch of salt over chocolate enhances the aroma. Related categories: Salt, Spice sugar, Spice salts.
