Anniversary Box, Ingo Holland's first nine spice blends
The Anniversary Box brings together the nine blends that started it all: Ingo Holland's first compositions, each in the tube sample size. We mix and fill every one of them in our manufactory in Klingenberg am Main. In a single box you get the range the Gewürzamt grew out of: Moroccan, Indian, Egyptian, French, Mexican. A gift for keen cooks and the most direct way to get to know our signature.
25 years in one box
It all begins in a restaurant kitchen. Ingo Holland is cooking at the Altes Rentamt, and whatever spices he is missing there, he blends himself. Those first compositions become a range, and the range becomes Altes Gewürzamt. Nine blends stood at the beginning, and all nine are still with us today.
For our 25th anniversary we have put exactly those nine into one box. Not the bestsellers, not the new arrivals, but the beginning. Cook your way through them in order and you taste how a manufactory comes into being: curious, straight across the kitchens of the world, with no regard for what happens to be in fashion.
What is included?
Nine spice blends in the tube sample size:
- Raz el Hanout - the Moroccan royal blend for couscous and tagine
- Garam Masala - a robust North Indian blend with roasted depth
- Ducca - the Egyptian blend, roasted and nutty, a classic for coating
- Mélange Noir - a pepper blend of three single-origin black peppers
- Curry Anapurna - deeply roasted and pungent, our curry classic
- Tandoori Masala - the Indian marinade blend for chicken and fish
- Quatre Épices - the French classic for terrines, ragouts and game
- Purple Curry - fruity and tart with hibiscus, shimmering violet
- Mole - the Mexican seasoning with cocoa and chilli for game and poultry
How to use it
Work your way through them one by one. Toast the curry and masala blends briefly in hot oil or ghee before you add vegetables, meat or coconut milk. Raz el Hanout and Ducca come into their own in braises and coatings, Quatre Épices in terrines and ragouts, Mole in dark sauces for game and poultry. Mélange Noir goes onto the meat straight from the mill.
Important: the heat levels sit far apart. Purple Curry and Quatre Épices are mild, Garam Masala and Curry Anapurna considerably stronger. Approach the hot ones carefully.

Frequently asked questions
Which spices are in the Anniversary Box?
Nine blends: Raz el Hanout, Garam Masala, Ducca, Mélange Noir, Curry Anapurna, Tandoori Masala, Quatre Épices, Purple Curry and Mole. They are the first nine blends Ingo Holland created. Each comes in the tube sample size.
Why exactly these nine blends?
Because they stand at the beginning of Altes Gewürzamt. Ingo Holland composed them first, and they are still in the range today. For the 25th anniversary the box is therefore less a selection by taste than a piece of company history to cook through.
What is the difference between the Anniversary Box and the Curry Set?
The Anniversary Box covers five different cuisines, from Moroccan Raz el Hanout to Mexican Mole. The Curry Set stays within nine curry variants and compares heat levels inside one family. The Anniversary Box is broader, the Curry Set deeper.
Does the Anniversary Box work as a gift?
Yes, very well. Nine varieties in one box give the recipient plenty to try without you having to know their taste in advance. It suits anyone who does not know the Gewürzamt yet.
Can I reorder individual blends?
Yes. Each of the nine blends is available separately in the large tin. That way you top up exactly what you liked best.
