Veggie Kitchen, a gift box with six spices for plant-based cooking
Six blends that add depth to your vegetable cooking with no effort - from the hearty all-rounder through fresh salad herbs to Thomas Vilgis' dark umami blend. We compose the blends in our workshop in Klingenberg am Main. With one reach you bring plenty of flavour to vegetables, potatoes, salads, soups and pulses.
What's in the box
- Gemüseschmackes (35 g) - savoury all-purpose blend for vegetables and soups
- Kartoffelstampfgewürz (40 g) - for mash, fried potatoes and roast vegetables
- Salatgewürz Gartenkräuter (40 g) - fresh herb blend for salads and dressings
- Tomaten-Paradeisersalz (40 g) - fruity vegetable salt for tomatoes and antipasti
- Vilgis Erde (25 g) - dark umami blend for vegetables and braises
- Masoor Dal Masala - spice blend for red lentils and dal
How to use
Each tin covers a different part of the plant-based kitchen: savoury all-rounders for vegetables and soups, herbs for salads, a vegetable salt for tomato dishes and a masala for pulses. Stir the blends in while cooking or use them as a finish over the finished dish. You can reorder your favourites in full size afterwards.
Important: toast the masala and the Erde briefly in oil or stock so they release their full aroma. Add the salad blend and the vegetable salt only at the end so the herb notes stay fresh.
Red Lentil Dal in 4 steps
- Rinse 200 g red lentils in cold water until the water runs clear.
- Sweat one finely diced onion and a little garlic in oil until translucent, then toast 2 tsp Masoor Dal Masala briefly.
- Add the lentils, pour in 600 ml water or vegetable stock and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes until soft, stirring now and then.
- Season with salt and serve with a squeeze of lemon and fresh coriander.
