Styrian pumpkin seed oil, the green gold of Styria
Styrian pumpkin seed oil is a natural oil from hull-less pumpkin seeds, roasted and gently pressed by the Hartlieb oil mill in Styria. Its character is deep dark with a greenish shimmer, intensely nutty and with a mild, fine roasted note. A single tablespoon gives salads, soups and even vanilla ice cream the unmistakable Styrian signature.
How to use
The classic for hearty leaf salads, especially with lamb's lettuce and combined with apple or wine vinegar. Wonderful over pumpkin soup, potato salad, cheese spaetzle and egg dishes. A Styrian insider tip is a dash over vanilla ice cream. Also with quark spread, grilled vegetables and pumpkin risotto.
Important: pumpkin seed oil is not suitable for frying. The heat destroys the aroma and the valuable nutrients. Always drizzle it over the finished dish only after cooking.
