Hungarian paprika flakes hot, 100 % paprika with fiery heat

These hot rose paprika flakes from Hungary are made of 100 % paprika, without additives. They combine the deep red colour and the typical Hungarian paprika aroma with a fiery but not biting heat. We sort and pack them in our workshop in Klingenberg am Main.

Taste and aroma

Full, fruity paprika aroma with a clear, rounded fiery heat. Rose-hot sits between mild and very hot, seasons strongly and colours dishes a rich red.

How to use

Goes with goulash, paprika ragouts, goulash soup, spicy paprika sauces, braised vegetables, minced meat and stews, as well as in BBQ rubs. Stir the flakes in only towards the end of cooking or into the finished sauce, as paprika quickly turns bitter at too high a heat.

Important: store cool, dry and dark so colour, aroma and heat are preserved. Direct sun fades the red colour.

Tip from the Gewürzamt

Sweat the flakes briefly in a little oil before deglazing. This brings out colour and aroma fully without the paprika turning bitter.

Hungarian lecsó in 4 steps

  1. Sauté two onions in oil until translucent, add four pointed peppers cut into strips and fry briefly.
  2. Stir in a teaspoon of hot paprika flakes, lowering the heat a little so the paprika does not turn bitter.
  3. Add 400 g chopped tomatoes, season with salt and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes.
  4. Serve as you like with rice, fresh bread or sausages.
