Product description

Luteniza – roasted pepper relish with carrots and tomato

Luteniza by Pelagonia is a puree of roasted red pepper, rounded out with carrots and tomato puree. Savoury in taste with a fine smoky note – a Balkan speciality with character that finds its own place between ajvar and lecsó.

How to use

As a dip for cheese, vegetables and meat dishes, as a spread on sandwiches and flatbread or on a Mediterranean starter platter. Also for refining soups, stews and sauces, or as a savoury side for grilled food. Simply on bread, or as the base for a quick pasta sauce.

Important: after opening, keep refrigerated and use within a few days. Always take it out with a clean spoon, then the relish stays fresh longer.

At a glance

Frequently Asked Questions

What is luteniza?
Luteniza (also ljutenica) is a savoury pepper speciality from the Balkans. It consists mainly of roasted red pepper, here rounded out with carrots and tomato puree, and tastes mild and savoury with a fine smoky note.

How does luteniza differ from ajvar?
Ajvar classically consists almost only of pepper and partly aubergine. Luteniza additionally contains carrots and tomato, which makes it a little fruitier and milder.

Is luteniza vegan and spicy?
Yes, this luteniza is purely plant-based. It is mild and savoury rather than spicy. If you want more heat, combine it with HOT Aivar or some chilli.

How do I store luteniza after opening?
In the fridge, well sealed and taken out with a clean spoon. That way it stays fresh for several days.
