Turmeric is sometimes also called "Indian saffron." This is purely due to its color—it is not to be confused with fine saffron.

Use:
Aromatic, earthy, and slightly bitter—turmeric is a versatile ingredient. It tastes great in warming soups, noodle and rice dishes, and, of course, curries. It's also especially delicious in fruity cakes or the trendy turmeric latte.
